Marktredwitz (dpa / lby) – According to the police, a woman in Upper Franconia broke her window and blamed children playing football for it. The 22-year-old from Marktredwitz (Wunsiedel district) called the police emergency number twice, the police said on Monday. The first time she reported on Sunday evening that she broke the window herself. The young woman asked for help covering the window because it was going to rain that night. The officials explained to her that this was not the job of the police.
Shortly thereafter, the 22-year-old called again and spoke of children who had destroyed the disc while playing football. When a police patrol drove to her, she told the officers a third story: the children threw a stone in their window and fled.
When the police officers warned her about making false statements that were punishable by law, the woman reportedly admitted that she broke the window herself. The investigators assume that the 22-year-old lied for fear of not being compensated for the damage by the insurance company. Now she has to answer for faking a crime and abuse of emergency calls, it said.
