Halblech (dpa / lby) – On Saturday afternoon in Swabia, a driver got into the oncoming lane and caused an accident in which five people were injured – two of them seriously. According to the police, the man in Halblech (Ostallgäu district) drove head-on into a car with four occupants for reasons that have not yet been clarified. He and a woman in the other vehicle suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital by rescue helicopter and ambulance respectively.
The driver of the second car and another man were taken to the hospital with minor injuries in the ambulance, while a helicopter flew the passenger, who was also slightly injured, to a clinic. According to the information, 18 firefighters with two vehicles as well as four ambulances and two helicopters were involved in the operation. The affected section of road was closed for an hour and a half. The property damage was estimated by the police at around 40,000 euros.
