Dresden (dpa / sn) – After an attack on an information stand of the Greens in the Dresden district of Lausa, the police have identified a suspect. The 61-year-old from the Bautzen district admitted to the crime in a first interrogation, but did not provide any additional information on the motive, the Dresden police department said on Wednesday. A threat speech was carried out with him. He is being investigated for assault.
The alleged perpetrator had attacked the stand on Monday evening. First, he threw an egg at a 55-year-old local politician. He then punched a 40-year-old man in the face. Both victims suffered minor injuries. Dresden’s Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert (FDP) condemned the act. A new mayor will be elected in Dresden on June 12th. The Greens are running with Dresden’s Environmental Mayor Eva Jähnigen.
