Dresden (dpa/sn) – According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the seven-day incidence in Saxony fell to 136.9 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week on Wednesday. The day before it was 148.6. This emerges from figures from the RKI dashboard. Nationwide, the value on Wednesday was 281.8.

However, experts assume that many corona cases are not recorded because positive rapid tests are not always followed by a PCR test. Only these are counted in the statistics. In addition, not all health authorities report their data on a daily basis, especially at the weekend and at the beginning of the week there can be a delay.

Within Saxony, the infection process is quite different. The city of Leipzig had the highest incidence value on Wednesday with 198.5. The district with the lowest value was the Erzgebirge district with 81.3. Saxony-wide there were 1351 registered new infections and 6 deaths. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 15,497 people have died in connection with Corona in Bavaria.
