The shortage of staff is great at the schools in Baden-Württemberg – especially in special education. The country now wants to counteract this.
Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – In the fight against the massive shortage of teachers, the state wants to train significantly more special education teachers in the future. This emerges from a cabinet proposal by Science Minister Theresia Bauer (Greens), which is to be decided by the state government on Tuesday. The “Südwest Presse” initially reported on it. At the University of Education (PH) Freiburg, the special education course is to be newly created in order to train 175 student teachers there every year from the 2023/24 winter semester. But, according to the newspaper, the plans are not yet secured because there is a lack of suitable premises.
Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) wants to present the plans to the public together with Bauer and Minister of Education Theresa Schopper (Greens) on Tuesday (12 p.m.).
