Penkun/Neubrandenburg (dpa/mv) – Federal police officers from a mobile surveillance unit caught a van thief on Autobahn 11 near Penkun (Western Pomerania-Greifswald) on Monday morning. As a spokesman for the federal police said on Monday, the vehicle with special structures was noticed by the officers on the journey on the A11 Berlin-Stettin in the direction of Poland. Investigations revealed that the van had been stolen from a metal construction company in Neubrandenburg just one hour earlier.

The 37-year-old driver of the van was arrested. The vehicle with a special structure, the value of which was given at 25,000 euros, has been examined for traces and can later be picked up again by the owners. Company vehicles keep disappearing in the north-east, especially with high-quality tools.
