The four-part miniseries “Oussekine”, which deals with the death of the student Malik Oussekine in Paris in December 1986, is uncomfortable and difficult to bear. That’s why it’s so worth seeing.

When the 22-year-old French student of Algerian descent decided to visit a jazz club in Paris on December 5, 1986, he was not aware that his life was in danger. In the climate of heated student protests against a controversial university reform, police saw the uninvolved young man as a legitimate target for official violence. Malik was dead on December 6th. The Disney series “Ousekine” tells his story in four episodes, leaving the viewer with an almost paralyzing rage.
