“I knew that I would have more joy if both of us were nominated. It’s almost like reading a fairytale, or a storybook. It’s very special. It would be so cute, I thought. I felt like a grandma about it. It makes me feel so happy that I can fully celebrate it.” — Kirsten Dunst, best supporting actress, for her role as “The Power of the Dog”. She was nominated along with Jesse Plemons for best supporting actor.

“I was afraid that I was up for it (the 5:05 a.m. announcements). It was a decision I made, and I am glad that I did it. It was nerve-wracking, but rewarding at the end.” — Andrew Garfield nominated as best actor for his role “tick, tick… BOOM!”

“I feel like the dust has settled on my back and is finally starting to come off. I feel lighter. It’s a historic moment. It will be documented. It will be preserved in history books even after I’m gone. It’s truly a blessing.” — Troy Kotsur (best supporting actor nominee for CODA). He is the second Deaf actor to be nominated for an Oscar.

“The reason I feel so happy about this Oscar nomination and the celebration at the end of it all is because my sole intention was to make history right again. Time is a key factor in this entire journey, from 1969 being a pivotal year for our development to the fact we get to see so many artists at the brink of their greatness.” — Ahmir Questlove Thompson, whose documentary “Summer of Soul” (Or, When the Revolution Could Not be Televised) has been nominated.

It’s all about what you do. Preseason is where you start. You put together a great game plan, work hard throughout the season and you hope to make the playoffs. We’re now in the big dance. It feels like all our hard work is paying off. It’s beautiful.” — Reinaldo MarcusGreen, director of King Richard, who received Oscar nominations for best film, original screenplay and best actor.

“It’s truly beyond special to have such an intimate story receive this recognition by the academy. I’m grateful and lucky.” It was an emotional and magical day.

“We received almost a 50-50 split of our reviews, which is pretty amazing considering the times we live. The popular reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. So, so, no. I didn’t expect anything. But, you know, the overwhelming support for the movie made me believe that we might get something. It was certainly a great day.” Adam McKay’s film “Don’t Look Up”, received a nomination.
