The overthrough Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi was sentenced this Monday to a total of four years in prison for violating the laws implemented against the pandemic and by the illegal importation of telecommunications devices, Efe said sources close to the case.

In two separate processes, a Special Court of Justice issued this morning the sentence, delayed two times, by the underserised tenure of several Walkie-Talkies and a signal inhibitor, by which Suu Kyi was accused of violating the law of
Export and import and the Telecommunications Law.

In this case, the judges decided to condemn the defendant to 2 and 1 year in prison, respectively, although the penalties will be fulfilled simultaneously, so he will only turn two years in prison.

Suu Kyi was also condemned today to another 2 years in prison for skipping during an electoral act for the elections of November 2020 the measures against the propagation of the COVID-19.

The lawyers of Suu Kyi indicated at the beginning of the judicial process that its representative denies all the accusations, while since October the military board imposed on the lawyers the prohibition of speaking with the media.

The two judgments of today are added to two others issued at the beginning of December, which also added four years in prison, although they were subsequently reduced by a pardon of the military junta.
