Unicaja closes next Saturday, the Employment Regulation File (ERE) for 1,500 employees motivated by the merger with Libbank.
With it culminates another black year in Spanish banking as far as reducing jobs is concerned.
More than 18,000 workers from the main financial institutions will go to the street by the mergers or by the changes of functions that have caused the scanning process of banking activity.

In this way, last year it became exercise with more dismissals or prejubiliations from the Spanish financial sector.
It is only about 2013, with 18,300 layoffs and low retirement.
Proportionally, the employment crisis is much greater now if we take into account that between 2008-2009, – the years of the financial crisis that caused, among other things, the disappearance of the savings banks – and last year the sector
Banking has already lost more than 120,000 workers.

The fundamental characteristic of this surge is that in most cases these processes have been saved with voluntary low, after more exit requests that number of layoffs will be presented.
The conditions offered by the entities and the new skills that specify the positions that are created make many employees over 50 years old prefer to avail themselves to the files or request a prejubiling without waiting for the Bank to make the decision.

For example, CaixaBank received more than 8,200 voluntary requests for 6,542 casualties that contemplated the ERE;
BBVA, 5.216 for 2,735 and Sabadell, some 2,100 for the 1,605 people (without counting the prejudilations of the end of 2020).
In Santander, 99% of the casualties agreed in its ERE have also been voluntary.
Together, the overdainment of voluntary outputs has been higher than 40% of the casualties agreed between unions and financial entities.

Banks want to rejuvenate template and raise generous conditions for their most veteran workers.
That rejuvenation means, on the one hand, that it enters personnel more adapted to the new conditions of the banking business, especially in the use of Internet banking and, on the other, that are incorporated with lower salaries and with much less advantageous agreements for
The workers who have always had banking in our country.

The favorable conditions offered by banks will suppose a joint disbursement of about 5,000 million euros, CaixaBank will be the one that will spend the most for this concept, 1,900 million euros.
Santander is the second that more money than dedicated to the template adjustment, with 1,146 million, while the cost for BBVA has been 960 million euros.
In Unicaja there are 368 million;
In Banco Sabadell, 269 million, and in Ibercaja, 151 million euros.
That disbursement will be recovering with the expected savings for the coming years.
