The four-year niece of George Floyd, the African-American who was killed in May 2020 by a police officer in Minneapollis, was seriously wounded in a shooting in the apartment in Houston where he was on January 1, 2022.
The girl, Arianna Delane, was injured when she slept in an apartment in Houston along with another minor and four adults, as she learned this Wednesday.
Arianna’s father, Derrick Delane, declared Ktrk-TV television that his own daughter woke up and told him that he had been injured.
It was then when he saw her blood and realized that they had really shot her.
A family friend told the local Khou television network that Arianna suffers lung drilling, liver drilling and three-rib breaks.
According to the Houston police in a statement, at the dawn of January 1, at least one unidentified person fired several times against the apartment in which Floyd’s niece was.
The police report indicates that the small one received the impact of bullet in the torso and was transported in a private vehicle to a hospital where it was operated.
The girl is in a stable condition after the operation.
Derrick Delane criticized the police performance because, according to he said, the agents did not reach the apartment up to four hours after the shooting.
Aunt of Arianna, Tiffany Hall, has created a campaign in Gofundme to raise funds for the girl and her mother, Bianca Williams, in which he points out that his niece “is fighting for his life” and requested help for the family to be able to
Move to another location.
“Our family has suffered so much since the death of George Floyd. We ask the community that it is one with prayers and support while we suffer another tragedy.”
George Floyd was killed in May 2020 by the then police officer Dereck Chauvin.
Chauvin, who was sentenced to 22 and a half years in prison for the murder, pressed Floyd’s neck with his knee for about nine minutes, which caused the asphyxia of the victim.
Before dying, Floyd repeated on several occasions that I could not breathe but Chauvin continued to press his neck until he died.
