The art triangle museums of Madrid, (Prado Museum, Queen Sofia and Thyssen) The Guggenheim of Bilbao and Caixa Forum have announced the public affluence balance of the year 2021, the first since the pandemic forced them to close
In spring of 2020. All centers have improved their assistance figures compared to 2020, although they are still far from the 2019 levels.

In 2020, the arrival of the Covid caused the visits to the museums by 70%;
In 2021 the influx to the great museums represents between 30 and 60% of the volume of last year prior to the epidemic.

The Prado Museum has received 1,175,296 visitors in 2021, which represents an increase of 32.2 percent over the previous year.
As detailed by the museum in a note, 1,126,641 people attended their headquarters in Madrid and another 48,655 visited the rooms in different Spanish localities where the Prado has been present with temporary exhibitions.
In 2019, the Prado counted 3.2 million visits.

Since the reopening of the museum in June 2020 (June-December 2020 compared to June-December 2021), the increase in the public has been 194.78 percent.

The public profile remains mostly young (48% of visitors between 18 and 34 years old) and female (58.6%) and, although since the pandemic was started more than half of the influx has been from the community
From Madrid, in 2021 there has been a progressive increase in visitors from the rest of Spain (20.2%) and foreign audience (26.1%).

On the other hand, the online project of the National Prado Museum already has more than 3.7 million followers in social networks, including 319,000 users of TIK Tok.

In a year marked by the centenary of the birth of Baron Thyssen-Bornemisza, the Thyssen Museum has received 671,078 visitors, a figure that represents an increase of 97% compared to the 2020, when 341,008 visitors were barely accounted for.
In 2019, 1.03 million people visited the Thyssen.

The number of visitors at the Reina Sofía Museum has grown by 2021 by 30% in relation to the past year.
A total of 1,643,108 people have been in their halls, almost 400,000 more than in 2020, has confirmed the museum on a note.
In 2019, 4.4 million people visited the queen.

Of these, 619.331 correspond to the headquarters, 746,406 to the Crystal Palace and 277,371 Al of Velázquez, both located in the Retiro Park.

The flow of public has been progressively ascending since May until the last semester with “figures similar to those of the years prior to the pandemic”.

In Bilbao, the Guggenheim Museum has received 530,967 visitors, which represents 6% more than expected due to the public increase in the second part of the year.
In 2019, 1.17 million people visited the Guggenheim.

Thanks to this rebound of visits and activity, the exhibition center managed to elevate its level of self-financing by 2021 to 62%, although it is still far from the prepandemic percentage, when it reached 71%.

Also the Foundation “La Caixa” increased its visits in the Eight CaixaForum and Cosmocaixa, where it has received 5.2 million visitors in the different cultural, scientific and educational proposals in 2021, which has been 1.3 million people more
that in 2020.

Meanwhile, the two rooms of the MAPFRE Foundation in Madrid and Barcelona registered 220,368 visitors, which means that it has increased more than 62% of its visits compared to 2020.
