A narcissistic enigma is an enigma that speaks for itself. Here is an example.
How much do we get if we multiply the sum of the numbers in the answer to this question by 2?
In general, one should be wary of narcissistic statements, their self-references are dangerous. Around them lurk paradoxes, non-excluded thirds and infinite loops… True and false look at each other like in a mirror. In the 7th century BCE, Epimenides was among the first to bear the brunt when he declared: “The Cretans are always liars, wicked beasts, lazy bellies! » A Cretan, Epimenides therefore spoke, among other things, of himself. So was he lying when he called himself a liar? Impossible to decide coherently. As impossible as answering “How much is the answer to this question not worth?” or “Are you going to answer “no” to this question? “.
Fortunately for us, there are also non-paradoxical “narcissades”, the resolution of which can sometimes prove perilous.
See this narcissistic chart: Each box contains a number and all those numbers do nothing but speak for themselves. Could you find their value?
