Belarus supplied Russia with more than 131,000 tons of ammunition in one year for its war in Ukraine, according to an investigation by the “Belarusian Gayun” project, which is dedicated to monitoring military activity on Belarusian territory.
The report is based on data collected by the Belarusian Community of Railway Employees and concludes that the volume of ammunition transferred by the Alexandr Lukashenko regime to Russia between January 2022 and January 2023 was 131,582 tons. On average, approximately 10,121 tons of ammunition were withdrawn from Belarusian arsenals per month, stresses “Gayun”.
Most of the ammunition left nine railway stations in Belarus and was transported not only to Russian regions close to Ukraine such as Belgorod, Briansk and Krasnodar, but also directly to the occupied territories, including the Crimean peninsula, and to North Ossetia, about 110 kilometers from the border with Georgia
According to the investigation, before the war that Russia started on February 24, 2022 in Ukraine “the volumes were tens of times smaller and began to grow immediately after” that date. “In January and February 2022, 203 tons were supplied to Russia and already in March 12.5 times more: 2,558 tons. And the following month, in April 2022, there was a peak with 29,741 tons,” the research indicates.
The second month with the highest volume of ammunition supplied to Moscow was in January 2023, when 24,421 tons were recorded, always according to “Gayun”.
Belarus supports Russia logistically and politically in its war in Ukraine and has offered its territory for the deployment of its great ally’s military units and war equipment since before the start of the war campaign more than 15 months ago.
In fact, on February 24, Belarus served Russian troops to cross the border and attack northern Ukraine.
