ATLANTA, The Atlanta Braves will pay homage to the past and present Friday with a two-part parade celebrating their 26th World Series title.
To win the championship, the Braves defeated the Houston Astros 7-1 Tuesday night.
The procession will begin at Woodruff Park, in the heart of Atlanta, just a few blocks from Turner Field and the former Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium.
The parade will last approximately 2 miles, with the team being feted along Peachtree Street. After that, the team will be escorted back to its home in suburban Cobb County, where it will resume the parade for another mile.
The celebration will end with a free concert featuring Atlanta rappers Ludacris & Big Boi at Truist park, which opened in 2017. It is approximately 12 miles northwest from downtown Atlanta.
Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was where the Braves played when they won their 1995 Series title. It was demolished and converted into a parking area for Turner Field. Turner Field was originally built adjacent to the stadium that was used for the 1996 Centennial Olympics.
From 1997 to 2016, the Ted was home to the Braves, who then moved to Cobb County. Since then, their former home has been transformed into a stadium for Georgia State football.
