The British Ministry of Defense apologized after accidentally revealed the email addresses of more than 250 Afghan interpreters seeking to move to the United Kingdom.

London has recognized that it left hundreds of Afghants eligible to be relocated in the hasty evacuation after the power of the Taliban power.
The BBC reported that an email sent by a team of the Ministry of Defense, erroneously included the direction of more than 250 people, leaving them exposed.

Many of the directions included a photograph of the person.
An interpreter told the BBC that “this error could cost life to the interpreters, especially for those who follow Afghanistan.”
A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense said Monday night that “an investigation was opened on the violation of the Afghan relocation assistance policy team”.

“We apologize with all those affected by this violation and we are working to ensure that it does not happen again,” he added.
The error concerns Afghans who follow in their country and remain hidden from the Taliban, as well as some who are in other countries, the BBC reported.

The message said to the interpreters that the team did everything possible to help relocate them, but warned them that they should not leave their current location if it was not safe to do so.
The ministry would have sent another message 30 minutes later in which he asked the receivers to change their email addresses.
The violation of data irritated the conservative diplomat Johnny Mercer, who qualified as a “action of criminal negligence”.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said weeks ago that there were still about Afghanistan 311 people who could be eligible for the British Relocation and Assistance Program, such as the interpreters’ case.

“We will do everything possible to ensure that they obtain the sure passage they deserve,” Johnson said to Parliament.
