Tweeting in response to criticism during the previous 24 hours of his position on social media, Beasley confirmed Friday he’s not vaccinated and will”reside my one life like I want to no matter.”
“I’ll be out in people. If your (sic) scared of me then steer clear, or have vaccinated… I might perish of covid, however I would rather perish actually living.
“I’m not going to take meds to get a leg which isn’t broken. I would rather take my chances of Covid and develop my resistance that way…I will play for free this season to live life just how I’ve lived it from day one. If I am forced to retirement, so be it.”
Beasley reported a lot of players concur with him but most aren’t established veterans. The 32-year-old who is entering his 10th season wishes to represent these players, he also tweeted.
Beasley tweeted that his has spoken to the players’ association since initially ripping them on their agreement with the league.
It restricts unvaccinated players while permitting vaccinated players to return to near normalcy, which made Beasley think the union wasn’t representing all the players.
Beasley tweeted Friday morning a confirmation of this Athletic’s report that the NFLPA had reached out to him earlier in the day and come to an understanding regarding certain areas of the policy.
Under the new policy, vaccinated players will also no longer be required to wear masks at the team’s facility or through team travel. They will not have a travel limitations, can utilize the sauna/steam room and weight room without capacity limitations, and can interact with vaccinated family and friends during team travel.
Unvaccinated players will probably be asked to analyzed for COVID-19 daily and needs to consume masks in staff centers and during travel. They will also not be allowed to utilize the sauna/steam chambers, are subject to burden room capacity limits, and may not depart the team hotel to eat or interact with anyone outside of the team traveling celebration during travel.
The largest problem for Beasley is that the gap between the protocols for all those vaccinated and people not following high-risk vulnerability to COVID-19.
Unvaccinated players will probably be asked to quarantine after high-risk exposure, while vaccinated players won’t.
He had career best of 82 catches for 967 yards in 2020. He’s two years and about $11.9 million remaining on his contract.
