Christian B., the suspect in the case, Maddie, has had to contend with in his efforts to release from prison a setback. An advocate General of the European court of justice on Thursday came in a legal opinion to the result that the 43-year-old German was allowed to be sentenced in December 2019 by the regional court of Braunschweig because of the rape of an American woman. The opinion is for the ECJ judges are not binding, they usually follow the evaluation of the competent General Prosecutor.
