The slaughter lasted almost two days. Just over a week ago, around five hundred Armed fell on the village of Masteri in West Sudan. You raged until the evening of the following day, murdered more than sixty people and many serious injuries at least as well. They destroyed the marketplace and set houses on fire. Then they came and went. By helicopter, some of the Survivors were flown later to the hospital in the some fifty kilometres away in the provincial capital, El Geneina.

in Front of the Masalit Sultan house in Masteri, a group demonstrated since then of about five hundred people against the violence. The protesters belong to more than 4,200 Displaced persons are housed in the building. The civil war had forced them to leave their home villages in the West of Sudan. Now you want to return – but it is too dangerous. Their murdered relatives don’t want, you bury before you Gouvernement and government have guaranteed protection.

Lockdown against violence

For weeks, the violence escalated in the Darfur Region. The United Nations office for the coordination of humanitarian Affairs registered solely between the 19. and 26. July in the vicinity of the city of El Geneina, seven Raids in which “dozens of people were killed or injured, a number of villages and houses, and an unspecified number of people displaced were burned”. 20. July, the Governor of the province called for a complete Lockdown. The people of Masteri, he has not helped however.
