The US has put in place new sanctions against Russia for poison attack on former Russian agent Sergei Skripal. This had been announced by US government in early August, after having blamed Moscow for DenAngriff on Skripal and its daughter Julija in UK. The sanctions include, among or things, cessation of arms and technology exports and an end to payment of assistance.

The government in Moscow had already announced retaliation on “same scale”. However, some areas, such as space travel, should be exempt from sanctions. According to information from US government, Washington’s new operations could still cost hundreds of millions of dollars in Russian economy.
The basis of US sanctions is law on control of chemical and biological weapons. It provides that US President imposes certain sanctions on States when y have used such weapons. It is first time that Russia has been sanctioned by United States on basis of this law. This is where country follows Syria and North Korea. According to law, Russia now has 90 days to explain renunciation of chemical and biological weapons. Orwise, furr sanctions could be followed which, according to US government, could be “draconian”.
This measure dürftedie relations between governments in Washington and Moscow continue to worsen. According to Russian Foreign Ministry, sanctions hindered any dialogue with Washington. Russia is holding counter-measures, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskow to agency Interfax. We will have to wait and see how penalties are effected in order to respond appropriately.

Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia were poisoned in UK in March with Nowitschok. Both of m only escaped death. The United Kingdom and United States made Russian Government responsible for action. Nowitschok was developed in former Soviet Union, but later or countries also experimented with it. The Kremlin rejected accusations.
The case triggered a serious diplomatic crisis. As a consequence, about 25 states and NATO had expelled more than 140 Russian diplomats from country. The Kremlin reacted with expulsion of similar numbers of diplomats. The United States alone had declared 60 Russians “undesirable persons” and expelled m. U.S. President Donald Trump later accused Germany of having done too little in comparison. The federal government had expelled four diplomats.
