Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) has significantly increased volume of imports of medical cannabis. For treatment of severely ill importers in Germany in future up to 1.5 tonnes per year from Nerlands, Ministry of Health reported and confirmed a report of mirror. So far, volume of delivery promised by Nerlands has been at 700 kilograms a year.

Spahn praised pledge of his Dutch counterpart Hugo de Jonge to magazine as a “living neighbourhood”. The Nerlands Thus “made an important contribution to medical treatment of German patients”.

According to information from mirror, about 20,000 patients submitted a request for treatment with cannabis last year, in 60 percent of cases this was approved. A total of 1.2 tonnes were imported from Nerlands and Canada.

The Federal Republic originally wanted to grow cannabis itself from 2019. The start is delayed, however, because call for tenders had to be repeated because of a procedural error. According to report, cannabis grown in Germany can be harvested at earliest 2020.
