LOWER — Two North Cape May men suspected of committing several area burglaries were arrested and charged with breaking into a home and stealing the residents car, police said.

The pair allegedly forced their way into an North Cape May home through a rear sliding glass door and stole items, Lower Township police said in a news release. 

They then stole the homeowner’s vehicle out of the driveway, authorities said. The family wasn’t home at the time.

Richard Schofield, 37, was charged with burglary,theft, trespassing and heroin possession. 

Donald Tozer, 40, was charged with burglary, two counts of theft conspiracy to commit burglary, trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia. Tozer is also known as Donald Hand.

A woman — Annette Leiggi, 46, of North Cape May — was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released with as summons.

Schofield and Tozer were taken to Cape May County jail after being charged but are no longer listed as inmates there as of Monday.

The stolen car has not been recovered, police said.

The arrests were made Wednesday but not announced until Monday morning.
