CLEVELAND, Ohio – Feline lovers, the most anticipated cinematic moment of the year has arrived. “Kedi” lands in theatres on March 10. And for your a-mews-ment, Cleveland Heights arthouse Cedar Lee Theatre, 2163 Lee Rd., is teaming up with local cat adoption organizations on opening weekend.

For each event, organizers will be bringing cats in need of a forever home and accepting donations of new cat toys and food. To sweeten the deal, Cedar Lee will offer $1 off all concessions (excluding alcohol) with any toy and food donations.

“Kedi,” which means “cat” in Turkish, is a documentary about the thousands of stray cats that roam freely in the metropolis of Istanbul. The felines have become woven into the culture of the city and here, it’s the cats that choose to adopt people. More than just loaded with cuteness, it’s an on-the-ground look at the lives of the street cats that have become synonymous with Istanbul. It’s told through the eyes of seven kitties, including Sari “The Hustler,” Duman “The Gentleman” and Bengu “The Lover.”

“‘Kedi’ is a beautiful and charming movie,” says Liz Waski, General Manager of the Cedar Lee Theatre. “I’m happy that we are able to bring this film to Cleveland and I hope that our partner shelters are able to find good homes for some of our own local cats.”

Children 3 and up are allowed to attend. Tickets can be purchased online at clevelandcinemas.com.
