A woman was killed in Chicago Heights on Wednesday night, police said.
About 9:25 Wednesday evening a woman called 911 saying she could hear a woman screaming for help, Chicago Heights police said.
On arrival, police found an unidentified, unresponsive woman lying on the ground near a house fence in the 1400 Block of Schilling Avenue with a bloody head and back, police said.
Chicago Heights Fire Department paramedics arrived and attempted to revive her, police said.
She was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:44 p.m., officials said.
Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services was contacted and responded to the scene for processing. Chicago Heights police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force are investigating. The medical examiner’s office concluded the death was a homicide from multiple assault injuries.
