CLEVELAND, Ohio — At 11 a.m. today, Cleveland Hopkins International Airport broke the high temperature record of 69 degrees, set in 1961, when temperatures ramped up to a whopping 70 degrees. Temperatures will continue to rise through 3 p.m.; we’re going to shatter the record.

Cleveland could break record for number of consecutive days above 50 degrees in February

For many, this was the first jacket-free and Goldenbahis windows-down type of day, but let’s not forget it’s February. Today could wind up being the hottest Cleveland day ever recorded in February history if we manage to make it above 74 degrees — that record was set back in 2000. Right now, the forecasted high is just below, at 73 degrees.

This warmth is due to sunny skies and even more southerly winds dragging in warm, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico.

Early Friday morning a strong warm front passed through the area, allowing temperatures to rise further, meaning records across Northeast Ohio will be challenged today.
