Emergency crews pulled two people from small plane that crashed Friday morning in a wooded area near Port Orange.

Volusia County sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash about 6:45 a.m. near the Spruce Creek Fly-In community.

Fire rescue crews helped pull a man and woman from the wreckage. Sheriff’s officials said both were taken to a hospital.

Details about their injuries haven’t been released, but officials said both were alive when they were rescued.

Officials said the small plane crashed shortly after takeoff from the Spruce Creek Airport, just west of Interstate 95 and north of State Road 44.

No other details about the crash or the couple’s relationship have been released.
