The first six Leopard 2 6A4 battle tanks that Spain is sending to Ukraine left this Friday from Santander and will reach their destination after five or six days of navigation, as reported by Defense Minister Margarita Robles this Saturday.
Speaking to the media after attending a political event of the PSOE in Coslada (Madrid), Robles confirmed the departure of six of the ten tanks promised to Kiev, along with twenty heavy transport vehicles TOA (Transporte Oruga Acorazado).
The Leopards left for Santander on Monday from the facilities where they were repaired, in Alcalá de Guadaira (Seville).
After it was set up, they participated in some maneuvers at the Cerro Muriano military base to confirm that they were in perfect working order.
“The Leopards (…) together with twenty transport vehicles have embarked in the port of Santander [norte] and are already heading towards Ukraine, where they will arrive within five to six days,” Robles told reporters.
“There are four other Leopards under repair and when they are repaired they will also be taken to Ukraine,” added the minister.
