Seamus Power didn’t make it to the Open Championship at the John Deere Classic, but he finished strong with a final round of 65, landing him in a share of 17th place. Now, he heads to Scotland to compete in the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club. This tournament is Power’s last chance to qualify for the Open Championship at Royal Troon, where top golfers like Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry will be playing.

The Genesis Scottish Open is the 16th and final event in The Open Qualifying Series (OQS). So far, 41 players have secured their spots in the prestigious Major Championship. Three spots are up for grabs for the top three players who are not already exempt and make the cut in this week’s Rolex Series event.

The Open Championship, known as the oldest golf tournament in the world, is scheduled to take place from July 18-21. Brian Harman, the defending champion, will be looking to retain his title at Ayrshire after his victory at Royal Liverpool last year.

American golfer Davis Thompson emerged victorious at the John Deere Classic, claiming his first PGA Tour title. With a tournament record of 28-under-par, Thompson won by four shots after a remarkable performance that included birdies on five of his first six holes. Amateur Luke Clanton also made history by finishing in the top 10 for two consecutive weeks on the PGA Tour, a feat not seen since 1958.

Thompson expressed his excitement about qualifying for The Open, but his main goal was to win the tournament, and he did just that. His solid start and consistent play throughout the event helped him secure the victory. As he looks forward to competing at Royal Troon, Thompson’s focus remains on his game and continuing his success on the golf course.
