Football Insider had previously mentioned a potential move for former academy goalkeeper Alex Cairns, who currently plays for Salford City in League Two. Cairns, 31, played a crucial role in Salford City’s victory over Leeds in a penalty shootout last season.
While the addition of a third-choice goalkeeper may not drastically impact Leeds’ season, bringing in Cairns could provide valuable experience and leadership both on and off the pitch. Farke is keen on strengthening the team’s overall dynamic, and Cairns’ presence could contribute positively to the squad.
Although Cairns may not see much playing time, his expertise and influence in the dressing room could prove to be beneficial for Leeds United. The potential signing of Cairns as Klaesson’s replacement seems to align with the team’s goals for the upcoming season.
