British Land has announced the appointment of Kelly Cleveland as the new Head of Real Estate and Investment. This new role combines two key parts of the company’s business following the departure of Darren Richards, who has resigned from his position as Head of Real Estate to join LondonMetric Property PLC as Chief Investment Officer.

Kelly Cleveland, who has been with British Land since 2011, has steadily progressed through the business, working in various roles across investment, strategy, and treasury. She joined the Executive Committee in 2020 and most recently held the position of Head of Strategy and Investment. Kelly will officially assume her new role in mid-October.

Simon Carter, the Chief Executive of British Land, emphasized the importance of aligning asset management, leasing, and investment activities, especially as the company actively recycles capital and capitalizes on emerging market opportunities. He highlighted Kelly’s extensive real estate experience, citing her leadership in key transactions such as the sale of the Meadowhall stake and various joint venture partnerships. Additionally, Kelly played a crucial role in expanding British Land’s presence in retail parks, a sector the company has been focusing on.

While expressing gratitude to Darren Richards for his nearly twenty years of service and significant contributions to the business, Simon Carter wished him success in his new role at LondonMetric Property PLC.
