The National Police and the French Anti-Drug Office (OFAST) have arrested eight people, three in Spain and five in France, belonging to a criminal organization that was allegedly dedicated to transporting drugs to France and converting weapons.
The three detained in Spain are related to a family clan living in the town of Yuncos (Toledo), which supplied narcotic substances and manipulated simulated or blank weapons so that they were suitable for shooting with live fire.
In the operation, a weapons handling workshop was dismantled, along with two marijuana plantations in closed areas, and 34 kilos of heroin, 80 kilos of hashish resin, 1,000 kilos of hashish, eight firearms and molds were seized. of ballistic parts.
The investigation began in April when the French Embassy in Madrid informed the National Police of the existence of a criminal group, based mainly in the city of Orleans, that would be supplying narcotics through Spanish drug trafficking networks.
The agents learned that one of those investigated had gone to Yuncos to buy a shipment of drugs and distribute it in France.
Subsequently, the convoy transporting the drugs was intercepted in Perpignan (France), resulting in the arrest of four people and the seizure of 80 kilos of cannabis resin, after which several searches were carried out that culminated in the arrest of the main person responsible. of the convoy and the seizure of 36 kilograms of heroin.
As a result of the investigation carried out in Spain, the agents confirmed that this drug was provided by a family clan settled in the Toledo municipality of Yuncos, where they had established their base of operations in a house located on the outskirts of the municipality.
After the surveillance and monitoring of the members of this clan, the arrest of three people was carried out and a home search was carried out where two indoor marijuana crops of 1,314 plants and 1,000 kilograms of hashish were intervened.
The detainees processed these substances to modify them and pass them off as a higher quality narcotic and thus be able to increase their market price.
In addition, inside the house there was a workshop with everything necessary for the manufacture and modification of firearm parts that the leader of this clan used to rehabilitate unused, simulated or blank weapons, which once manipulated were suitable. for live fire shooting.
Eight short weapons (original and modified) capable of shooting were also located at the home, as well as a multitude of detonating and compressed air weapons, along with numerous parts, ballistic elements and countless ammunition of different types of caliber.
During the search, nearly 30,000 euros in cash were seized and a van that was listed as stolen was recovered.
