The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría, attended a wheelchair basketball game this Saturday between IMF Getafe and Amiab Albacete in what was her first official act after assuming the new position in the Government of Pedro Sánchez.

Alegría attended the meeting accompanied by the Secretary of State for Sports and president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), Víctor Francos, as well as the president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE), Miguel Carballeda, and its managing director, Alberto Jofre.

The minister spoke with all of them and with the athletes who were playing in this match of the Wheelchair Basketball Honor Division League, at the Alhóndiga Municipal Sports Complex in Getafe (Madrid).

“I already spoke at the inauguration about the importance of sport and education to improve people’s lives. And I have chosen a wheelchair basketball game, which is also mixed, to attend my first event as Minister of Sports,” the minister told those present.

In his opinion, this is “one of the best examples to promote equality and integration of people, two fundamental transversal policies” for the new Government of Spain, which took office on Tuesday.
