An investigation was opened in Paris on Thursday, October 12, for “suspicion of poisoning” of Russian journalist Marina Ovsiannikova, a refugee in the capital, known for having brandished a sign on Russian state television denouncing the invasion of Ukraine, Agence France-Presse learned from a source close to the matter, which was confirmed by the Paris prosecutor’s office.

Thursday afternoon, the journalist felt unwell when opening the door to her apartment. She discovered powder there. Ms. Ovsiannikova claimed she was poisoned by the Russians, according to another source. Samples were being taken at his home.
