On Monday October 9, Israeli forces continued to track down hundreds of Palestinian fighters infiltrated into Israel and bombarded the Gaza Strip, after an unprecedented Hamas offensive against the Jewish state. The surprise attack, launched on Saturday at dawn by the Islamist movement, left hundreds dead on both camps. Many Israelis, civilians and soldiers, have been kidnapped by Palestinian fighters.
After Saturday’s incursions on several points on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel, some groups of fighters withdrew to Gaza, others continued fighting on Israeli territory. At the same time, Israeli authorities asked residents of several localities to evacuate their homes and threatened Gaza with reprisals.
