On August 17, Princess Leonor began her training as a professional in the Armed Forces with the last promotion of the General Military Academy of Zaragoza.

Once the first seven weeks of instruction have been completed, all the cadets who have passed the different tests and studies in this section of the military career, some 410 of the 613 initial applicants, must swear the flag this Saturday, October 7.

Doña Leonor will also participate in this solemn ceremony at the officers’ school, but unlike the flag oath that her father, Felipe VI, once took, it will not be an exclusive act for the heiress.

“It is not going to be individualized like that of His Majesty the King,” explained the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, during her recent visit to the military center.

On this occasion, the Kings will preside over the flag oath. Felipe VI attends a military oath every year, but on this occasion the event will end with the words of the King. Possibly, Don Felipe will make a special message to his heir.

Over the next three years, the Princess of Asturias will also complete her military studies at the Marín Naval School (Pontevedra), where she will embark on the training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano, and at the General Academy of Air and Space in San Javier ( Murcia).

Spanish Television has decided to make a special program on the occasion of the Princess’ swearing in of the flag that will also include the official ceremony of the General Military Academy of Zaragoza.

The program, which will be broadcast live next Saturday, October 7, will be broadcast on both La 1 and the 24-hour channel.

The public entity’s news correspondent on Royal Family issues, Alejandro del Riego, will be in charge of hosting the program along with a guest commentator from the Army.

As confirmed by Casa Real, Mrs. Leonor will also be present in the National Holiday parade on October 12.

And on October 31, also the date of his 18th birthday, he will swear the Constitution before the Cortes Generales, thus fulfilling the obligations required in article 61.2 of the Magna Carta.

After the event in Congress, it is planned that Princess Leonor will receive the Collar of the Order of Charles III in the Royal Palace in the presence of the powers of the State and that a lunch will then be held with a representation of the highest authorities of the State.
