The director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergei Narishkin, said today that the West is trying to convince Georgia that now would be a good time to recapture the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in order to open a second front against Russia.

“We see the persistent attempts by Washington, Brussels and London to convince the Georgian leadership of the need to open the so-called second front. They see that the situation on the battlefield is not in favor of Ukraine,” he told a meeting in Minsk. with the Belarusian president, Alexandr Lukashenko.

According to the official TASS agency, Narishkin added that the West is convincing Tbilisi that now is a good time to regain control over Abkhazia and South Ossetia, occupied by Russia after the 2008 war.

Narishkin also reiterated that Poland does not give up the idea of ??”getting the western part of Ukraine, a long-standing dream of Polish nationalists.”

“The Polish leadership believes that the condition for the implementation of this idea is the collapse of the Ukrainian state as a result of a military defeat,” he said.

The director of the SVR also affirmed that the US cannot organize an international blockade against Russia, despite the “enormous pressure” it exerts on the countries of Latin America, Asia and Africa.
