Omar Montes gave an interview to El Hormiguero on Monday, March 27. The singer, who presented his next tour, recalled his controversial sounding as a result of his performance at the World Cup in Qatar.

“Long live Spain. Long live the women. Long live the gypsies and long live free love, let each one go with whoever they want,” Montes said during his concert at the sporting event. Pablo Motos wanted to know what had happened after his statements.

“They almost killed us, but removing that, I’m here, thank God. They took it half badly, even though I say it with good vibes and with my art that characterizes me,” he said. “When I was arriving at the hotel, my friend, the receptionist, told me ‘they’ve been asking about you, they look bad, take a walk and better not come. When you see that this is free from being harassed, you’re coming.’ I went to eat some kebabs and now, when my friend told me, I came back,” he said.

“It is that there is much more, the truth. In the end they ended up catching me, I had to run away, I hid in a laundry room,” confessed the musician, who came out of hiding to go directly to the airport. “There were people there who weren’t too amused by that and wanted to talk to me,” he added. “I screwed up, I admit it, but I also had to claim our things,” said the singer.

Montes also reflected on how money changes your life. “People, when they know that you have money, it’s like you’re forced to pay everywhere, no matter how many we are and no matter what the account is,” he lamented.

In addition, Motos asked Montes how he distinguished true friends from interested people. “The one who takes out the wallet, even if he doesn’t want to pay, that you see the gesture, is already good. One has an eye. In the end, the people around you, you know who they are. You let them surround you because, even if you know that they take advantage, you also feel indebted to them because you’ve known them all your life or because they’ve done good things for you,” he said.
