The transport strike in Germany called for this Monday has forced the cancellation of 81 flights of the 191 scheduled operations between Spain and the German country, according to Aena sources have informed Europa Press.
The airport operator has explained that the airlines had already scheduled these cancellations previously, so “there is no incident” at the airports in the network. So far, 41 arrivals and 40 departures have been cancelled.
The strikes in Germany are called by the ver.di and EVG unions, which demand a 10.5% wage increase for public sector workers.
Ver.di extends the strike to all German airports, except Berlin, and to public transport in the federal states of Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Wurttemberg, Saxony, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Bavaria.
The German airport association ADV considered that “around 380,000 business travelers and individuals” will be affected, as reported by the Agency of the German Press Agency (DPA).
This strike in the transport sector threatens to paralyze the country just before the peak of movement of Easter and given the high demand after years of restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.
