The Kings League has become the fashion competition among the youngest public in Spain.

This new 7-a-side soccer league, created by Gerard Piqué and Ibai Llanos through the Kosmos company, gathered 92,000 spectators in the final held at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The matches that were broadcast both on the Twitch channel and on YouTube and Tik Tok also had an audience of more than 2 million viewers.

Popular streamers such as TheGrefg or Perxitaa and former soccer players such as Iker Casillas or Kun Agüero also participated in the final. Within the call for players invited to the tournament, Chicharito Hernández, Raúl Tamudo, Joan Capdevila, Sergio García, Joan Verdú, Ricardo López and José Juan, among others, also collaborated.

The Kings League also stands out for the introduction of new rules in the matches, imported in some cases from other sports such as basketball or water polo, which make the matches more dynamic.

Each game consists of two 20-minute parts, but if the teams tie, they decide the winner of the match on penalties. In addition, all the changes that each coach needs can be made, yellow cards imply a temporary expulsion of 2 minutes and penalties in the match start from the center of the field until they reach the goalkeeper’s goal, among other novelties.

Each of the teams has 12 players. Ten of them were chosen among 120 shortlisted within a Soccer 7 draft format similar to the one used by the NBA.

These players have a fixed salary of 75 euros per game and 100 euros per game from the quarterfinal round. All these squad payrolls are assumed by the organization of the Kings League.

In the case of the two additional players (11 and 12), they are professional players invited by the presidents of each team and in this case the salary is different. As with the Kings League coaches, it is the presidents of each team that have to pay the salaries of these footballers.
