Munich (dpa / lby) – near the Allianz Arena in Munich, several hundred-year-old trees were damaged in a wildfire. As the fire brigade announced, the incident occurred in the forest area of ??the southern Fröttmaninger Heide. A cyclist had informed the emergency services because of thick smoke above the trees.
Upon arrival, the fire had spread to an area of ??about 50 by 50 meters. This was an “uncleared area”, which is why a danger from contaminated ammunition could not be ruled out. Before the start of the extinguishing work, consultation was therefore held with the responsible explosive ordnance clearance service. After he gave his consent, the fire was quickly brought under control.
Because of the damaged trees, an area officer present estimated the damage to be around 100,000 euros. Nobody was injured during the operation. There is no information yet on the cause of the fire.
