Dresden (dpa/sn) – Due to new warning strikes in the public sector, people in Saxony must expect restrictions on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Verdi trade union is calling on employees in local transport as well as in authorities, social and educational institutions to stop working again. “The effects will vary from region to region,” said Verdi spokesman Daniel Herold of the German Press Agency. It can already be said that there will be significant impairments in daycare centers, after-school care centers and offices.

On Tuesday, Verdi called on employees in the administration of the cities of Dresden and Chemnitz, the districts of Mittelsachsen and Erzgebirge and several communities in eastern Saxony to go on warning strikes. There should also be deficits in the job centers in Chemnitz and Pirna, at the Chemnitz transport companies and several savings banks. On Wednesday, among other things, daycare warning strikes and work stoppages at Dresden’s public transport companies are planned.

Buses and trains in Dresden, Leipzig, Chemnitz, Zwickau and Plauen were already standing still last Friday. In the current situation, calls for a strike are decided at very short notice, according to Herold.
