Wendelstein (dpa / lby) – The driver of a van was seriously injured in an accident on the A6 in Central Franconia. The man drove into a small truck in front of him at high speed on Saturday morning near Wendelstein (Roth district), the police said on Sunday. Both vehicles were thrown more than a hundred meters further down the freeway as a result of the impact.

The front part of the car that caused the accident was severely compressed, causing the man to suffer serious leg injuries. He was trapped in the car and had to be freed by emergency services. Paramedics then took him to the hospital. The driver of the small truck was unharmed. The cause of the accident initially remained unclear.
