Three years after the arrival of the pandemic, Taiwan is struggling to find its tourists. Before the health crisis, the island welcomed 11.2 million travelers each year on average, compared to only 895,000 in 2022. In order to revive the sector, the Taiwanese authorities are betting big. The tourist office announced that it would “distribute 500,000 vouchers worth 5,000 Taiwan dollars (about 155 euros) to foreign tourists visiting Taiwan independently, not in groups, on the condition that they meet certain criteria,” reports Courrier international.
