Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Parents of daycare children will have to adjust to considerable restrictions next Wednesday in Baden-Württemberg. The service union Verdi called for international women’s day (March 8) to warning strikes with a focus on social and educational services, as a spokesman announced on Friday. The union expects more than 6,000 employees. It could be the largest day of strikes in the state so far, it said.
In Stuttgart alone, two thirds of the daycare centers will remain closed, as Verdi announced. Strikes are also planned in the districts of Ludwigsburg, Böblingen, Heilbronn and Rems-Murr. In addition to the social and educational service, the administration with bathrooms, service and inspectors of the SSB is also affected. However, there should be no failures in the driving service, said the spokesman. Only in social and educational services will there be strikes on Wednesday in Karlsruhe, Freiburg, Mannheim, Ulm and Aalen.
Many citizens have been feeling the effects of warning strikes in the public sector for weeks. Verdi and the civil servants’ association dbb want to underpin their demands in the current wage round for the municipalities and the federal government. They demand 10.5 percent more income, but at least 500 euros more per month. The employer side had rejected the demands as “unaffordable”.
