Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) – Despite the last two defeats, coach Markus Kauczinski believes that SV Wehen Wiesbaden is capable of promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga this season. “We have the ability to do it. In the end, it shows whether you have the maturity or not,” said the 53-year-old in an interview with the German Press Agency.
After 2007 and 2019, it would be the third promotion for the Hessian third division team, which Managing Director Nico Schäfer also believes in. “At the moment we are in a better starting position than last year,” he emphasized. At that time, Wiesbaden gambled away the chance of promotion four games before the end of the season. Schäfer now sees the club as “much more secure for the adventure in the 2nd league, which shouldn’t remain an adventure.”
The SVWW welcomes FC Ingolstadt on Saturday (2 p.m.). Before the game against one of his ex-clubs, Kauczinski put promotion on the back burner: “At the moment I don’t have the feeling that it’s an issue in the team.” However, the coach is certain: “The pressure will increase, as will the stress, of course.”
