Dresden (dpa/sn) – In the collective bargaining dispute in the public sector, Verdi has called the waste disposal and city cleaning company of the city of Chemnitz to a two-day warning strike for Thursday. “The employer’s offer is outrageous and shows absolute contempt for the employees,” said Verdi district manager Daniel Herold on Wednesday in Dresden. According to Verdi, around 400 employees will take part in the warning strike.
“We assume that the effects will drag on into the next week because the garbage collection is not secured within the two days,” says Herold. In the negotiations for the approximately 2.5 million federal and local employees, the Verdi union is demanding 10.5 percent more income, but at least 500 euros more per month. There was no agreement in the second round of negotiations last week. The unions had rejected an offer from the employers as insufficient.
