Aachen/Cologne (dpa/lnw) – A truck driver was fatally injured in a rear-end collision at the end of a traffic jam on Autobahn 44 near Aachen on Tuesday. The 32-year-old drove his van into a truck shortly after entering Belgium and pushed it against a car and another truck, the police in Cologne said. The 49-year-old driver was seriously injured in the car. The truck driver could only be rescued dead from the badly damaged driver’s cab. The traffic jam is said to have been caused by an accident four kilometers away. The Autobahn in the direction of Mönchengladbach was initially closed.
