Schwerin (dpa / mv) – A former employee of Deutsche Bahn and his partner have allegedly committed several fraud offenses against his former employer and captured around 8,000 euros. As the federal police announced on Tuesday, an employee at the travel center in Schwerin main station became aware of a 40-year-old woman who submitted suspicious overpayment slips.

These tickets are issued to travelers when they buy a ticket from a conductor and there is not enough change available at the time of purchase. By presenting an overpayment slip at a Deutsche Bahn travel center, travelers can then have their change paid out in cash.

In various train stations in Schwerin, Wismar and Hamburg, the 40-year-old was paid the unusually high sum of 194 euros, according to the police. Investigations by the federal police led to her 31-year-old partner, who is a former employee of Deutsche Bahn.

After resigning, he failed to comply with repeated requests to return his remaining overpayment slips and other documents. According to the police, the currently known damage from the fraud amounts to 8,000 euros. The investigations continued.
