Friedrichswalde (dpa/sn) – A 37-year-old died in an accident at work in an open-cast mine near Friedrichswalde-Ottendorf near Pirna. The man had been buried in the hopper of a silo on Monday, as a spokeswoman for the Saxony State Directorate said on Tuesday. The “Leipziger Volkszeitung” previously reported.
Task forces from several fire brigades and special forces from the Heidenau high-altitude rescue team tried to free the man. When he was recovered, he was already dead. The spokeswoman for the state directorate was initially unable to provide any information on the course of the accident.
