Meiningen (dpa/th) – A man has been sentenced to probation by the Meiningen district court for his involvement in an attack on a right-wing extremist. The 30-year-old made a significant contribution to the robbery in December 2019, the presiding judge said on Monday when the verdict was pronounced. The former left-wing extremist had previously admitted to having spied on the later victim.

For this he was sentenced to a year and a half in prison, which was suspended on probation. In addition, the man should pay 1,500 euros to the victim protection organization Weißer Ring. The public prosecutor had asked for a suspended prison sentence of one year and ten months. The defense pleaded for a fine of 200 daily rates of 20 euros each.

The 30-year-old is considered a key witness in the proceedings before the Dresden Higher Regional Court against the alleged left-wing extremist Lina E. She is accused of having formed a criminal organization that is said to have attacked right-wing extremists. The now convicted man used to be active in her environment. According to his own statement, he has now left the extreme left scene.
